William Pyle earns Defensive Player of the Week after registering back-to-back clean sheets in conference matches last week.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Daniel Bruce, Charlotte, So., F, Northwich, Cheshire, England
Bruce Scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute to lead the 49ers to a 1-0 victory at No. 3 Clemson. For the season, he has scored three goals with two game-winners and an assist. This is Bruce’s first C-USA Player of the Week award of his career.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – William Pyle, South Carolina, Jr., GK, Charlotte, N.C.
Pyle posted two shutouts and eight saves en route to helping the Gamecocks to the top of the C-USA standings. They remain the only unbeaten team in conference play at 3-0-1. Pyle came up huge in overtime at FIU on Oct.10. He stopped a Panther penalty kick from 12-yards out with a full-extension save on a rocket to the near post that would have been the game-winner. Pyle logged three saves total in the match. He stayed locked in on Saturday against UAB, notching five saves in the shutout win that propelled the Gamecocks to first-place in the C-USA standings. This is Pyle’s first C-USA Player of the Week award this year and second of his career.
