VB: Oct. 3 Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas – After notching a league-best 41 kills over the weekend, UTSA’s Dajana Boskovic is the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week. Rice’s Madison McDaniel claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors after securing a pair of double-doubles over the weekend. C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, WKU’s Jessica Lucas earned Setter of the Week accolades for the fifth time this season. Southern Miss’ Catherine Repsher won the C-USA Freshman of the Week award after leading her team in blocks last weekend.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Dajana Boskovic, UTSA, Sr., OH, Bileca, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Boskovic continued on her torrid offensive pace, posting a league-high combined 41 kills in wins over North Texas and UTEP. The veteran outside hitter recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 11 digs against UTEP, while also collecting a season-best five blocks against the Miners. She also led the Roadrunners with seven blocks over the weekend. Her 4.78 kills per set continues to top the C-USA leaderboards and ranks eighth among national leaders. This is Boskovic’s third Offensive Player of the Week award this season, and marks the eighth of her career.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Madison McDaniel, Jr., S, The Woodlands, Texas
McDaniel helped extend Rice’s winning streak to seven straight with double-doubles against Middle Tennessee and Tennessee State. The setter, usually known for her superb passing, posted 30 digs and seven blocks to go along with her 73 assists. Her 13 double-doubles this season rank first among all C-USA leaders. This is McDaniel’s first Defensive Player of the Week award and the sixth weekly award of her career.

C-USA Setter of the Week – Jessica Lucas, WKU, Jr., S, Seymour, Ind.
The C-USA Preseason Player of the Year guided the Lady Toppers to a 2-0 record and a combined .409 hitting percentage over the weekend. Lucas finished with 35 assists at LA Tech and 34 assists at Middle Tennessee, good for 11.50 assists per set. Her 11.70 assists per set continues to lead the league this season and ranks fourth nationally. This is Lucas’ fifth award this season and marks the tenth of her career.

C-USA Freshman of the Week – Catherine Repsher, Southern Miss, Fr., OH, Carl Junction, Mo.
Repsher continued to build on her impressive freshman campaign as she led the Golden Eagles to a sweep of Marshall over the weekend. The 3-0 victory for Southern Miss marked the first time any team has swept the Herd this season. Repsher accounted for all seven of her team’s blocks in the victory. It was her fourth time producing seven or more blocks this season. Her 1.25 blocks per set rank second among C-USA leaders and first among freshmen. This is Repsher’s third weekly award this season.
