MSOC: Oct. 31 C-USA Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Napo Matsoso of No. 14 Kentucky earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after registering a pair of two-goal performances in back-to-back wins. No. 8 Charlotte’s Matej Dekovic claimed the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award after netting the game-winning score at No. 25 South Carolina.
 
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Napo Matsoso, Kentucky, Sr., MF, Louisville, Kentucky
Matsoso registered his first of two multi-goal games at Florida Atlantic which included the game-winner in a 2-1 decision over the Owls. The win clinched the Wildcats a berth into the C-USA Championship. Four days later, the senior led a Wildcat offense to a 3-0 win over Marshall behind his second two-score performance. Matsoso has four multi-goal matches on the year. This is Matsoso’s first C-USA award this season and third of his career.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Matej Dekovic, Charlotte, Sr., D, Zagreb, Croatia
Dekovic netted the game-winning goal on a 27-yard free kick in the 76th minute in the 49ers’ 2-1 win at nationally-ranked South Carolina. He played an integral role on a Charlotte defense that allowed one shot on goal in its ninth shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over Florida Atlantic. Dekovic played all 180 minutes of the 49ers two wins last week. This is the first C-USA award for Dekovic this season and second of his career.
