2017-18 C-USA Basketball Preseason Team: Day 9

IRVING, Texas – Charlotte junior guard Jon Davis and UTEP senior guard Omega Harris earned the two final spots in Conference USA’s preseason team for Men’s Basketball. After being recognized on the league's preseason squad yesterday, Middle Tennessee’s Alex Johnson nabbed the 2017-18 C-USA Women’s Basketball Preseason Player of the Year honor. The league’s annual preseason polls for both men and women will be released on Friday, Oct. 27, with the 2017 C-USA Basketball Tipoff Event & Reception presented on ESPN3 coming Monday, Oct. 30,  at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Jon Davis, Charlotte, Jr., Upper Marlboro, Md.
Davis scored 588 points last season, the ninth-most points scored in a season in Charlotte history. He recorded 126 assists, finishing sixth in C-USA with 4.2 per game, and finished the season in the top 15 in C-USA in field goal percentage (.482), three-point field goal percentage (.38) and free throw percentage (.782). Davis was named to the NABC All-District 11 Second Team and All-C-USA Second Team and finished second in C-USA for scoring with 19.6 points per game.
 
Omega Harris, UTEP, Sr., Bethany, Okla.
Harris led the Miners in scoring with 17 points per game and totaled 1,041 points at UTEP and earned a spot on the All-C-USA Third Team. The Oklahoma native recorded double-figures 29 times and had a 16-game double-figure scoring streak, the longest streak by a Miner in six years. Harris ranked second in C-USA in minutes (36.4), eight in scoring, 10th in steals (1.3), 12th in free throw percentage (.787) and 14th in three-point field goal percentage (.377).
 
Alex Johnson, Middle Tennessee, Jr., Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Johnson was named to All-C-USA First Team in 2017 and set Middle Tennessee record for points (687), field goals (251) and free throws (179). She had 20.2 points per game, ranking second in C-USA for scoring. Johnson became the fastest four-year Lady Raider to reach 1,000 points, doing so in just 51 games.
