IRVING, Texas – Conference USA’s continuing commitment to academic excellence is highlighted by the 15 student-athletes named to the 2017 C-USA Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team presented by InTouch Credit Union. All nine C-USA men’s soccer schools are represented, with New Mexico leading the team with four award recipients.

Senior goalkeeper
Jason Beaulieu is second in C-USA in goals against average (.95), save percentage (.817), saves (76), saves per game (4.47) and has five shutouts for the season. The Montreal native has a 3.989 GPA in civil engineering and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District, and has made the C-USA All-Academic Team all four years playing for the Lobos. Sam Gleadle, Simon Spangenberg and
Matt Dorsey picked up C-USA All-Academic honors as well. Gleadle posts a 3.743 GPA in business administration and has two goals for the season, both were game-winning. Junior midfielder Spangenberg boasts a 4.192 GPA in pre-mechanical engineering and has accumulated 1,298 minutes in 43 games. Dorsey registered a .500 shot on goal percentage this season for New Mexico and has a 3.859 GPA in communications.
Charlotte’s
Callum Montgomery and
Myles Brown picked up All-Academic honors with a 3.95 GPA in biology and a 4.0 GPA in sociology, respectively. Montgomery has six points on two goals and two assists in conference play and has helped the 49ers’ defense to five shutouts this season. Redshirt sophomore Brown has recorded 13 shots for Charlotte in his first season.
Kentucky and Marshall boast a pair of All-Academic Team honorees. The Wildcats have graduate student
Alex Bumpus, who graduated with a 3.308 GPA in health care communications, is working towards a masters in sport leadership and has started every game this season.
Sam Stockton posts a 4.0 GPA in finance and has started every game for Kentucky. Marshall senior
Jascha Glueckschalt earned all-academic honors with a 3.81 GPA in management and has been a key defender for the Thundering Herd this season. Senior
Christian Kershaw earned another spot for Marshall with a 3.91 GPA in sport management. Kershaw has logged over 600 minutes of play this season and is a consistent player for the Herd in midfield.
C-USA All-Academic Team boasts four more student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or above. Florida Atlantic’s

Niko Klosterhalfen (3.84 GPA in psychology) and UAB midfielder

Rounding out the 2017 C-USA All-Academic Team is South Carolina’s goalkeeper
William Pyle with a 3.519 GPA in public health. Pyle leads C-USA in saves (83) and saves per game (5.19) on the season and boasts three shutouts.
