MSOC: Sept. 11 Players of the Week

 
IRVING, Texas – Kentucky swept this week’s Conference USA weekly awards after a tie game against No. 8 Louisville and a win over C-USA opponent UAB. Offensive player of the week went to Kentucky junior midfielder Mikkel Pedersen. For the second week in a row, Kentucky’s Enrique Facusse nabbed the Defensive Player of the Week.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Mikkel Pedersen, Kentucky, Jr., Esbjerg, Denmark
 
Pedersen notched two goals last week, scoring in both of Kentucky’s matches. He gave Kentucky a 2-1 first-half lead in their game against No. 8 Louisville, which ended in a 2-2 tie. During Friday’s 1-0 win against UAB, Pedersen scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute, continuing Kentucky’s unbeaten streak.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Enrique Facusse, Kentucky, Fr., Tegucigalpa, Honduras
 
Facusse made a total of eight saves this past week, limiting No. 8 Louisville to two goals and UAB to zero. Facusse’s shutout against UAB was his third clean sheet of the season. Following his two performances, Facusse’s goals-against average improved to 0.55.
