IRVING, Texas – New Mexico’s
Matt Puig was voted the first Conference USA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week of 2018 after pacing the Lobos to a 4-2 victory over No. 22 Seattle.
Callum Montgomery earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading a Charlotte defensive front that held FGCU scoreless. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World Headwear.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Matt Puig, New Mexico, So., Edmond, Oklahoma
Sophomore transfer Matt Puig tallied five points on a pair of goals and an assist in his first outing as a Lobo. His first goal came in the 30
th minute to give New Mexico a 2-0 lead. When nationally ranked Seattle narrowed the lead to one, Puig responded five minutes into the second half to put the Lobos up 3-1 on their way to their first win of the season.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Callum Montgomery, Charlotte, Sr., Victoria, British Columbia
The reigning C-USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year anchored a 49ers defense that held FGCU to one shot and zero shots on goal, giving Charlotte its first shutout victory of the season. The senior also recorded two shots.
