IRVING, Texas – Kentucky picks up both Conference USA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards this week as
JJ Williams was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week and
Aimé Mabika was named Defensive Player of the Week. All C-USA weekly awards are presented by Top of the World Headwear.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – JJ Williams, Kentucky, Jr., Montgomery, Alabama
Williams scored the game-winning goal against a Columbia team that returned nine starters from a squad that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last campaign. This was his first goal of the season, propelling him to a team-best seven career goals. The junior totaled six shots on the night, three of which were on goal.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Aimé Mabika, Kentucky, R-So., Lexington, Kentucky
Mabika anchored a Kentucky back line that held Columbia scoreless all night. The Lions, who ended 2017 ranked 27
th in NCAA RPI, were held to just four shots all night, with only two requiring slight goalkeeper intervention. The redshirt-sophomore tallied 10 interceptions and won 74 percent of the challenges he made.
