DENTON, Texas – Two overtime periods weren’t enough to decide the first match of the 2019 C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship that ended in a 0-0 draw. No. 1 seed Florida Atlantic ultimately secured their spot in the semifinals over No. 8 seed Louisiana Tech after finishing with a 4-3 advantage in penalty kicks.

The Owls controlled the ball much of the match, outshooting the Lady Techsters 27-4. The Louisiana Tech defense kept them off the board through 110 minutes, as goalkeeper Carlotta Cartelli made 11 crucial stops. Florida Atlantic ended up on top with four made penalty kicks to Louisiana Tech’s three, capped off by Tiril Haga’s make to end the match.
 
One-seeded Florida Atlantic will face the winner between No. 4 seed Charlotte and No. 5 seed WKU at 4:30 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 8 in the semifinals round. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
