DENTON, Texas – A second-half surge by No. 3 seed Rice led to a 4-2 victory over No. 6 seed Middle Tennessee. With the win, the Owls clinched their first semifinals bid since 2014.

Middle Tennessee entered halftime with a 1-0 lead after a goal from 2019 Conference USA Player and Offensive Player of the Year
Peyton DePriest. Rice responded after the break with three goals – two from
Haley Kostyshyn and one from
Lianne Mananquil – in just over three minutes.
Madison Kent added one more for Rice in the 78
th minute. DePriest netted her second goal of the night with three minutes left, but the Blue Raiders could not make up for the Owls’ scoring streak.
Rice will face the winner between No. 2 seed North Texas and No. 7 seed UTEP in the semifinals of the 2019 C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. CT.
