DENTON, Texas – No. 1 seed Florida Atlantic survived in a double overtime thriller over No. 4 seed Charlotte to advance to the championship match of the 2019 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Championship, their first trip since 2016.

The Owls dominated the first half, taking a 3-0 lead off goals from
Pernille Velta, 2019 C-USA Midfielder of the Year
Mary O’Hara and
Tiril Haga. Charlotte came out firing after the break to tie it up at 3-3.
Ashton McKane tallied a brace and
Ari Maibodi netted the equalizer. The two teams took turns shooting until Florida Atlantic’s
Elisha Holmes came through with the golden goal in the 103
rd minute.
The Owls will face the winner between No. 2 seed North Texas and No. 3 seed Rice in the finals, slated for Noon CT on Sunday, November 10. Florida Atlantic defeated both teams in the regular season.
