CHAMPIONSHIP TRENDS
*This year’s game will feature a matchup of the last two C-USA Champions (Florida Atlantic in 2017 and UAB in 2018).
*Florida Atlantic is ranked No. 1 in scoring offense in Conference USA, averaging 34.1 points per game (36.4 vs. league opponents). UAB has the top-ranked scoring defense in C-USA, allowing 18.5 points per game.
*In addition to leading C-USA in scoring defense, UAB ranks first in the league in rushing defense, passing defense and total defense. The Blazers are fifth in the FBS in rushing defense and total defense and sixth in passing defense.
*Florida Atlantic has won by double-digits in all nine of its victories, while UAB allowed more than 21 points just twice all season.
*UAB will be attempting to become the third school to win back-to-back C-USA Championship Games, joining WKU (2015-16) and East Carolina (coached by current LA Tech head coach Skip Holtz in 2008-09). The Blazers are trying to become the first team to win both titles on the road, as WKU won both at home and ECU won one away and one at home.
*Since C-USA began holding a conference championship in 2005, the host school is 10-4 all-time, although visiting UAB ended a six-game home winning streak with its victory at Middle Tennessee last season.
