MSOC: Sept. 16 Players of the Week

DALLAS – (RV) FIU’s Alessandro Campoy notched a hat trick in the Panther’s league opener and was named the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. No. 12 Charlotte’s Delasi Batse led a 49ers squad that allowed only one goal across two matches and received defensive accolades. All weekly awards are presented by Top of the World.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Alessandro Campoy, FIU, R-Jr., Port au Prince, Haiti
Campoy lifted the lid on conference play for the Panthers with a dominant offensive performance. The redshirt junior tallied seven points off three goals and an assist against in-state rival Florida Atlantic. The hat trick marked the first by an FIU men’s soccer player since 2017 and paced FIU to a 6-1 victory over the Owls. His goal total alone tied the most allowed by Florida Atlantic in a 2019 contest thus far. His seven points and three goals are now the C-USA single-game highs this season.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Delasi Batse, Charlotte, R-So., Durham, North Carolina
Batse anchored a 49ers defense which only allowed one goal in 220 minutes of action against two nationally-recognized teams. The redshirt sophomore played a key role in holding (RV) West Virginia scoreless while playing the final 25 minutes of the game down two men. The match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, marked the first time the Mountaineers had been held without a goal at home since October 2017. Batse was also critical for the defensive unit that conceded just one goal and preserved a draw at home in a 2018 C-USA Championship title game rematch against No. 17 Kentucky.
