DALLAS – No. 22 FIU took home both Conference USA Player of the Week accolades after their 1-0-1 week.
Caleb Franke recorded a hat trick and earned offensive honors.
Nick O’Callaghan led a backline that allowed one goal across two matches and received the defensive nod. All weekly awards are presented by Top of the World.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Caleb Franke, FIU, So., Orlando, Florida
Franke came out firing in the second half of the Panthers’ second C-USA match against Old Dominion. The sophomore netted three goals in a 10-minute span to seal a 5-0 victory. The hat trick was the first of Franke’s career and his six points led the conference this week. The Orlando, Florida, native now finds himself tied for the league lead in goals this season.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Nick O’Callaghan, FIU, Sr., Winter Springs, Florida
O’Callaghan logged 200 minutes on the week to help his team to a combined 1-0-1 record against UNF and Old Dominion. The senior played a complete game for the Panthers’ backline during a double overtime battle with in-state foe UNF, allowing just one goal in a draw. The Winter Springs, Florida, product paced a defensive unit that stifled the Monarchs, who averaged 5.2 shots on goal entering the match. O’Callaghan led a squad that allowed just two shots on goal in the 5-0 win.
