WSOC: October 27 Players of the Week

DALLAS – WKU’s Danielle Lewin, Liberty’s Avery Paulson and FIU’s Valery Restrepo earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week – Danielle Lewin, WKU – Gr. – Lawrenceville, Ga.
Lewin earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after recording seven points on two goals and three assists to help WKU (10-1-6, 4-1-2 CUSA) secure two victories. The graduate forward contributed to four of the Hilltoppers’ seven goals in a 7-1 win over Jax State, scoring twice and adding two assists for a career-high six points. Lewin opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the match before adding her second goal later in the contest. She also assisted on the game-winning goal in WKU’s 2-1 victory over NM State on Sunday, moving into fifth in program history for single-season assists with seven.

Defensive Player of the Week – Avery Paulson, Liberty – Jr. – Roswell, Ga.
Paulson earns Defensive Player of the Week after helping anchor a Liberty (13-2-2, 6-0-1 CUSA) backline that recorded two shutouts in a 2-0 victory over Delaware and a scoreless draw at Sam Houston. The junior defender helped limit Delaware to just two shots, including none on goal, as the Lady Flames extended their shutout streak to five consecutive matches. Liberty has surrendered just one goal in conference play, the fewest in CUSA, while Paulson has logged over 275 minutes during the team’s current shutout streak. She becomes the fifth different Liberty player to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors in as many weeks.

Goalkeeper of the Week – Valery Restrepo, FIU – Sr. – Medellín, Colombia
Restrepo earns Goalkeeper of the Week recognition after totaling 13 saves across 180 minutes to lead FIU (6-6-4, 3-3-1 CUSA) to a pair of conference road victories. The senior goalkeeper opened the week with seven saves in a 3-1 win at Sam Houston before recording six saves in a 1-0 shutout victory at Missouri State on Sunday.
