Football Format

CONFERENCE USA FOOTBALL FORMAT FOR 2021
 
2021 Teams (14): Charlotte, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB, UTEP, UTSA and WKU
Divisions: Two. Charlotte, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion and WKU in the East.  Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB, UTEP and UTSA in the West.
Scheduling Format:  Eight conference games. Each school in the West Division will play every team in its division once for six games, while playing two cross-over opponents from the opposite division.
2021 Championship: December 3. Hosted by the East or West champion school with best winning percentage in conference games.
2021 Bowl Tie-ins: The league’s bowl lineup will span a six-year cycle from 2020-25.  The conference is guaranteed seven bowl appearances in each year of the new cycle and will have associations with up to 16 different bowls. Guaranteed selections each season with the Bahamas Bowl and the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The league is scheduled to participate in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl in 2021.
Reg. Season Awards: Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week.  Chosen by a panel consisting of
one media member in each league city.
Postseason Awards: Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Special Teams Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year, First and Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team. Awards are chosen by each head coach and announced following the C-USA Championship Game. In addition there will be an All-Academic Team selected by the league's academic advisors.
Championship Awards: The first place team will receive a trophy and individual awards. A Most Valuable Player of the championship game is selected by members of the media attending the game.
