IRVING, Texas - Conference USA's commitment to excellence on the court and in the classroom continues to show as 11 student-athletes have been named to the 2016 C-USA InTouch Credit Union Volleyball All-Academic Teams. Ten schools are represented on the exclusive list.
Teammates
Ally Kiekover and
Allie Kellerman represent Marshall on this year's squad. As a three-time C-USA Academic Medal recipient, Kiekover also ranks in the top 10 all-time in kills at Marshall and maintains a 3.84 GPA as a biological science major. Kellerman, fresh off being named the C-USA Libero of the Year, makes the list with a 3.75 GPA in accounting.
Representing the 20
th-ranked WKU volleyball team is junior
Jessica Lucas. The C-USA Setter of the Year in back-to-back seasons ranks eighth among national leaders in assists per set, averaging 11.49 this season. Lucas also sports a 3.49 GPA in exercise science (pre-physical therapy).
The number two seed in the C-USA Championship, Southern Miss Golden Eagles, boast setter
Sarah Bell to this year's all-academic squad. Last season, Bell made the Southern Miss President's List, while also picking up a C-USA Academic Medal. The sophomore already ranks ninth in school history in total assists while maintaining a 4.00 GPA in biological sciences.
UTSA junior
Megan Slan makes the all-academic team for the first time in her career after keeping up a 3.86 GPA. The biology major won a C-USA Academic Medal last season and set a pair of career-highs this year (seven kills against Army, five blocks against Texas State).
For the fifth-seeded Florida Atlantic Owls,
Maja Ristic makes the list for the second straight season. Ristic led the Owls with 382 kills (fourth in C-USA) and tallied 10 double-doubles on the season. The exercise science major boasts a 3.41 GPA.
As a two-time C-USA Academic Medalist and a Rice Scholar Athlete of the Year, senior
Leah Mikesky makes the list as arguably one of the most decorated student-athletes in both athletics and academics. This marks the third-straight season of all-academic recognition for the kinesiology major. Mikesky maintains a 4.01 GPA while also being named to the all-conference second team this season.
North Texas'
Amy Henard also makes this year's all-academic squad for the third straight season. Henard was one of 14 student-athletes to receive C-USA's Fall Spirit of Service Award while keeping up a 3.78 GPA in chemistry and biology.
The eighth-seeded UTEP Miners add to the all-academic squad as senior
Lindsey Larson earns her third straight trip to the team. Larson is the only C-USA player to notch a double-double this season (five) while also earning second team all-conference honors. Larson, a civil engineering major, retains a stellar 3.93 GPA.
Louisiana Tech's
Jacie McClure earns all-academic recognition for the second straight season for her 4.00 GPA as a kinesiology and health promotion major. McClure is a member of the National Honor Society for Success and Leadership and has registered 28 or more digs in a match two separate times this season, showing her all-around success.
Rounding out the list is UAB junior
Haley Jared. The Hartselle, Alabama, native ranked second on the Blazers in kills (287) and points (319.0) this season, while still maintaining a 3.90 GPA in electrical engineering. Jared is also a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient.
