DALLAS – Rice senior guard Erica Ogwumike was named a 2020 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America honorable mention as announced by the organization Thursday. The honor is Conference USA women’s basketball’s first since 2015 and Rice’s first since 2007.

The Cypress, Texas, native became eligible for All-America recognition after being tabbed one of 52 regional finalists. Ogwumike, C-USA's lone representative, was placed on WBCA's Region 2 team.

The back-to-back C-USA Player of the Year and three-time All-C-USA First Team selection paced the league in conference scoring (21.3) and rebounding (11.6) this season. Her performance helped the Owls become C-USA’s first program to ever claim a regular season crown outright in back-to-back years.
