MBB: Nov. 22 Players of the Week

DALLAS – FIU’s Tevin Brewer earned his first weekly Conference USA honor as he was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Additionally, Middle Tennessee’s Teafale Lenard, Jr., was recognized as the C-USA Freshman of the Week. The 2021 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and are voted on by the league’s men’s basketball communications directors.

Brewer averaged 18.3 points per game in FIU's three wins at the Jersey Mike's Classic en route to being named to the All-Tournament Team. Brewer is leading FIU as he is shooting 51.7 percent from 3-point range and averaging 16.6 points per night while dishing out a team-high 24 assists. FIU is now on a four-game winning streak and Brewer was key in scoring five of FIU’s nine points in OT to lift the Panthers to the win over UNC Greensboro. Brewer opened the tournament with a team-high 25 points and added five assists. He had five assists in all three wins and averaged 5.3 rebounds per game on the weekend.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
TEAFALE LENARD JR., MIDDLE TENNESSEE
FRESHMAN, G, 6-7, SNYDER, TEXAS
Lenard scored 11 points and hauled in four rebounds during the week, as Middle Tennessee went 1-1 against Winthrop and at Stephen F. Austin, blocking two shots and dishing out an assist. In his first four games with the Blue Raiders, Lenard is averaging 16.4 minutes and played a season-high 21 minutes at Stephen F. Austin en route to eight points and three rebounds.
