FRISCO, Texas - North Texas (6-7) led 14-10 midway through the second quarter of the Frisco Football Classic, but Miami (OH) (7-6) scored 17 unanswered points to hold on for a 27-14 win on Thursday afternoon.
The Mean Green found paydirt in the first quarter via an
Isaiah Johnson one-yard touchdown run, which capped off a 12-play, 75-yard scoring drive to seize a 7-3 lead.
After Miami (OH) answered with a touchdown drive of their own to go on top 10-7, UNT again scored on the ground.
QB Austin Aune kept from two-yards out to punctuate a 10-play, 90-yard drive to grab a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter.
It appeared that the Mean Green would head into the half with a 14-13 lead after holding Miami to a field goal, however, a pair of turnovers in the final five minutes of the half led to a Redhawks' 20-14 advantage at the break.
Miami then scored on the opening drive of the second half, and never looked back.
