DALLAS - In the final week of the regular season, Charlotte's David McCabe and Florida Atlantic's Adrien Reese closed out the 2021 Conference USA Baseball weekly awards. McCabe claimed C-USA Hitter of the Week following a dominant performance at the plate in a series against regional foe UNCW, while Reese snagged the C-USA Pitcher of the Week accolade after assisting in the Owls' first shutout of Miami (FL) since 1993. 

McCabe jumped back into the lineup over the weekend only to hit .700 in a series win over UNCW. McCabe started with a 1-for-2 night in the opener Thursday before posting his first of two three-hit nights with a pair of RBI in a 6-5 win. In Saturday’s rubber game, McCabe hit a pair of two-run homers, one to get the Niners on the board, the other to start a late-inning comeback. After hitting his pair of homers, McCabe started the six-run ninth with a leadoff double and scored one of the six runs to comeback in dramatic fashion for a 15-14 win to end the regular season. McCabe hit .700 going 7-for-10 with a pair of homers, double, six RBI and three runs scored.
 
Reese drew the midweek start Tuesday, the first of his FAU career. And he more than delivered. He pitched four scoreless innings to earn the win as part of a combined road shutout of Miami (FL), which ranks in the top 20 RPI. It marked just the second time in program history the Owls have shut out the Hurricanes – the other being on April 2, 1993 – and the first time in Coral Gables. In his longest outing as an Owl, Reese saw just one batter reach third base in his four shutout frames (reaching his pitch count) and posted two strikeouts. The graduate, having just celebrated his Senior Day the previous weekend, gave up just three hits, held opposite (RH) hitters to a 1-for-5 night and limited the UM lineup to just a 1-for-6 showing with runners on base.
