C-USA Establishes Internship Program Emphasizing Diversity

DALLAS – Conference USA, as part of its Social Action Committee initiatives, announced Friday that it has established an internship program focused on diversity. C-USA added Taylor Wilson to the league office staff as the program’s first intern.

“We value diversity and the intentional makeup of our staff is one element that demonstrates our commitment,” C-USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod said.  “This program provides an additional opportunity to develop young talent and we are excited to have Taylor join our team.”

The post-graduate internship program is designed to provide opportunities for underrepresented candidates within the collegiate athletics industry. It is also all-encompassing in terms of duties, as Wilson will earn experience across all departments within the C-USA office.

Wilson joins the C-USA office following an internship with one of the conference’s member institutions, Southern Miss. He assisted with reviewing and revising team budgets for the Golden Eagles, aided in reconciling expense reports, allocating scholarship funding and determining compliance with NCAA regulations during his time in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Wilson also earned experience on the game day operations staff at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, during his time as a student at Ole Miss.

Wilson earned an undergraduate degree in Finance and a master’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi, respectively.
