DALLAS – Following back-to-back 20-point games, UAB junior Jordan Walker earned his first weekly Conference USA honor of the season as he was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Additionally, Middle Tennessee’s Teafale Lenard, Jr., was selected as the C-USA Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. The 2021-22 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and are voted on by the league’s men’s basketball communications directors.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JORDAN WALKER, UAB

Walker put together his best week of the year, recording 47 points, eight rebounds, seven assists to just three turnovers in 68 total minutes during UAB's weekend sweep of FIU and FAU. After finishing Thursday's win over FIU with 20 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal, Walker stepped up time and time again for the Blazers as UAB rallied from a seven-point deficit with less than 10 minutes remaining to defeat FAU 76-65. The junior poured in a career-high 27 points and finished with a season-high five rebounds to go along with five assists in the comeback victory. The point guard drilled the dagger for UAB with 2:37 remaining in the game, knocking down a clutch 3-pointer to stretch the Blazers' lead to eight points at 68-60. Walker has now scored 17 points or more points in five-straight games and has strung together three consecutive 20+ point performances for the Blazers. He ranks third in points per game (19.0) and sixth in assists per game (4.17) in C-USA play this season.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
TEAFALE LENARD, JR., MIDDLE TENNESSEE
FRESHMAN, G, 6-7, SNYDER, TEXAS
Lenard, Jr., shot 66.7 percent from the floor in a pair of Blue Raider victories over Florida Atlantic and FIU, averaging 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. The freshman from Snyder, Texas, added two steals and two blocked shots as MT increased its home winning streak to 10 games. Against Florida Atlantic, Lenard scored seven points in 24 minute then added four rebounds in 18 minutes against FIU. The Blue Raiders are now 11-6 and 2-2 in C-USA action. This is the second freshman award for Lenard, Jr., this season, as he was also recognized on Nov. 22.
