FB: Busy Week 7 Kicks Off Friday Night in Miami

DALLAS - Ten C-USA teams are in action this week, with all five games as league contests. The week kicks off in prime time on Friday night as UTSA travels to Miami to take on FIU at 7 p.m. CT. A four-game slate on Saturday starts in the 2:30 p.m. CT window with a pair of games, including a rivalry matchup between WKU and Middle Tennessee. That is followed by a 3 p.m. CT kickoff in Denton and wraps with a 5 p.m. CT kick in Boca Raton as Florida Atlantic hosts Rice.

UTSA (4-2, 2-0 C-USA), travels to South Beach to take on FIU (2-3, 0-1 C-USA) on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network. UTSA is atop the league standings after its first two league contests, and took down WKU last week 31-28 in a rematch of last year’s championship game in San Antonio. FIU dropped a non-conference clash last week at home against UCONN, 33-12 and is in search of its first league win of the season.

WKU (3-3, 1-1 C-USA) is on the road again this week, as they make the short trip on Saturday to battle Middle Tennessee (3-3, 0-2 C-USA) in a bitter rivalry game at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Unofficially dubbed “100 Miles of Hate,” the series history is deadlocked at 35-35-1, with WKU winning each of the last three matchups and six of the last seven. The Hilltoppers fell last week 31-28 at UTSA, while Middle dropped its second straight, 41-14 at UAB.

UAB (3-2, 1-1 C-USA) remains at home this week after a 41-14 win last week over Middle Tennessee, and the Blazers host Charlotte (1-5, 0-2 C-USA) on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. CT on Stadium. Charlotte was off last week and most recently dropped a close one at home to UTEP (41-35) in Week 5. The 49ers are seeking their first league win of the season, while UAB, winners of two of their last three, look to continue to climb towards the top of the C-USA standings.

North Texas (3-3, 2-0 C-USA), tied with UTSA atop the league standings, were off last week, but host Louisiana Tech (2-3, 1-0 C-USA) Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The Mean Green were last in action in Week 5, when they defeated Florida Atlantic 45-31 in Denton, while Louisiana Tech is coming off an impressive 41-31 win at home last week over UTEP to pick up head coach Sonny Cumbie’s first league win.

The final game of the night is another conference duel between Rice (3-2, 1-0 C-USA) and Florida Atlantic (2-4, 1-1 C-USA) in Boca Raton at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Both teams were on byes last week, but Rice knocked off UAB 28-24 in Houston back in Week 5, while FAU fell 45-31 at North Texas that week.
