Adri Rhoda, who scored 33 points in eight sets, earned this week’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors presented by
Blenders Eyewear.
C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Anota Adekunle, Rice, 5Sr., Humble, Texas
Adekunle repeats as Offensive Player of the Week after she helped Rice to a 2-1 record on the week, recording 43 kills, nine blocks and hitting .427. Against No. 18 Baylor she led the Owls with 10 kills and hit .421. Two days later, she led Rice to a 3-1 victory at UAB, connecting on 13 kills and hitting .400 while recording six blocks. The Humble, Texas, native closed the week by recording 20 kills, her second 20 plus kill match of the year, and hitting .447. On the week, she averaged 3.58 kills per set. She ranks second in C-USA in hitting percentage with .401.
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Katie Isenbarger, WKU, 5Sr., Zionsville, Ind.
Isenbarger was a key player in the Hilltoppers defense as she averaged 1.4 blocks per set this week. The fifth-year senior from Zionsville, Indiana, tallied eight blocks at the net against North Texas on Friday, including two solo stuff blocks in the 3-1 win. She grabbed three more in a 3-1 victory against UTEP on Sunday. Isenbarger leads WKU with 84.0 blocks on the season.
C-USA Setter of the Week – Carly Graham, Rice, 5Sr., Spring, Texas
Graham repeats as Setter of the Week after having 125 assists in 12 sets. On Wednesday against No. 18 Baylor, she recorded 27 assists. Two days later, she recorded a double-double in a 3-1 win at UAB, recording 43 assists and adding 10 digs. She closed the week with her second straight double-double, notching 50 assists, her fifth match this year with 50 plus helpers, while adding 10 digs in a 3-2 victory over Charlotte. On the week, she averaged 10.42 assists per set.
C-USA Freshman of the Week – Adri Rhoda, Middle Tennessee, Fr., Hutchinson, Minn.
Rhoda led the Blue Raiders this weekend to a 1-1 record, after leading the team with 25 kills, five aces and 33 points. This week, Rhoda led all true freshmen in C-USA in kills, aces, points and points per set. She was also second among freshmen in kills per set with 3.1 and aces per set with .62. Rhoda placed 10
th in the program’s single-season record for aces (49) and is now one of two Blue Raiders since 1996 to break into the top 10.
