VB: November 14 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Conference USA announced Monday its final Volleyball Player of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear. WKU’s Lauren Matthews earns Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week after posting 30 kills and 13 blocks in one match, North Texas’ Ceci Harness earns Setter of the Week after having 51 assists in six sets, WKU’s Callie Bauer, who had 51 assists in one match and UTEP’s Torrance Lovesee, who had 27 kills in eight sets were named Co-Freshman of the Week.

C-USA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week – Lauren Matthews, WKU, Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.
In a thrilling five-set match for the conference regular season title against No. 21 Rice, Matthews had a remarkable game, posting a career-high 30 kills, operating on a .377 hitting clip. The fifth-year senior from Indianapolis, Indiana, also tied the school record for most blocks in a single match recording 13 blocks. She had a total of 37 points on the evening, leading the Hilltoppers to a victory.
 
C-USA Setter of the Week – Ceci Harness, North Texas, So., Alvin, Texas
Harness finished the week with 51 assists, averaging 8.50 assists per set. On Thursday, Harness had 26 assists in a win against UAB. She recorded 25 assists in a three-set sweep over Charlotte on Saturday. The sophomore from Alvin, Texas, also had a total of nine digs, three aces and a block.
 
C-USA Co-Freshman of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU, R-Fr., Hudson, Mich.
In her first season as the Hilltoppers' starting setter, Bauer collected a career-high 51 helpers in the five-set thriller against No. 21 Rice. She also posted a .500 hitting clip with seven offensive dumps/kills over the net. She tabbed on two service aces, five blocks and 11.5 points on the evening.

C-USA Co-Freshman of the Week – Torrance Lovesee, UTEP, R-Fr., Leon, Kansas  
Lovesee posted a team-high 27 kills over eight sets this week in back-to-back wins for the Miners. In UTEP’s road win over UTSA, Lovesee recorded 11 kills along with four service aces and racked up 16 points for UTEP. On Saturday, UTEP defeated UAB in four sets where Lovesee recorded a match-high of 16 kills to put up 19 points in the match. Overall, she topped the UTEP roster in kills, aces (five), and points (35.0).
