VB: Rice, WKU Earn NCAA Tourament Bids

DALLAS - Rice, the Conference USA champion, and WKU will represent C-USA in the 2022 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, announced by the NCAA on Sunday.

The Owls (26-3) will face Colorado (20-10) in the first-round game at Baylor’s Waco Ferrell Center on December 1st at 4:30 p.m. CT. The winner will advance to the second round on December 2nd against the winner of Baylor/Stephen F. Austin match at 7 p.m. CT. 
 
WKU (28-3) will face Bowling Green (22-9) on December 1st at Kentucky’s Lexington Memorial Center at 3:30 p.m. CT.  The winner will advance to play the winner of Kentucky/Loyola Chicago on December 2nd at 6 p.m. CT.
 
Rice heads into the tournament coming off its first C-USA Championship since 2018. During the championship, the Owls defeated FIU 3-0 in the quarterfinals and won against UTEP 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the title game versus WKU. 
 
WKU, the C-USA regular season champion will be appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight time and 15th under head coach Travis Hudson. This comes after their fourth consecutive appearance in the conference championship match following a 14-0 record in conference play. Both the Hilltoppers and Owls have each appeared in the NCAA Tournament in the last three seasons. 
 
The 2022 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship will take place at CHI Heath Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The national semifinals will be held on December 15, followed by the final on December 17 on ESPN2.
