DALLAS – Rice’s Destiny Jackson and Florida Atlantic’s Dyllan Hanna earned Conference USA Women’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2022-23 C-USA Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
 
Player of the Week – Destiny Jackson, Rice – Sr. – Mansfield, Texas
Jackson put on a masterful performance to keep Rice one of 12 teams in the nation unbeaten in a double overtime thrilling win over cross-town rival Houston on Saturday. In a game that saw 11 lead changes and 10 ties, the senior guard dropped a career-high 33 points along with seven boards, five assists, three steals and was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Her 33 points marks the highest scoring individual performance this season in Conference USA. The Mansfield, Texas native is now averaging just over 14 points per game, placing her top-10 in C-USA, and has managed to log double-figures in seven of their eight contests thus far.
 
Freshman of the Week – Dyllan Hanna – Fr. – Saint Augustine, Fla.
Hanna helped the Owls to a 61-point win, the largest margin of victory by a C-USA team this season, while tying for the team lead and career-best 18 points, shooting an incredible 89 percent (8-of-9), and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line. The freshman center also pulled down six rebounds along with a block and a steal. Hanna tabbed 25 minutes of action in the win as Florida Atlantic moves to 6-1 marking its best start in the program’s division one era.
