MBB: Feb. 7 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Following a record-setting performance in a win, UAB junior Jordan Walker was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced on Monday. Additionally, Charlotte’s Aly Khalifa was selected as the C-USA Freshman of the Week for the fourth time on the year and in back-to-back weeks. The 2021-22 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and are voted on by the league’s men’s basketball communications directors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JORDAN WALKER, UAB
JUNIOR, G, 5-11, PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.
Walker set a UAB single-game record with 42 points scored in UAB's 97-75 win over Middle Tennessee, who was the East Division leader, on Saturday. Walker shot a blistering 14-of-23 (.609) from the field and 8-of-16 from behind the 3-point line to break current UAB head coach Andy Kennedy's and Robert Vaden's single-game scoring record of 41 points in a UAB uniform. Walker has scored 20+ point in seven straight games and is averaging 27.0 points per game during that span. His 42 points also tied for sixth-best in C-USA history in a single game. Walker also tallied four assists, four steals and three rebounds to go along with his 42 points. Additionally, Walker scored 21 of his 26 first-half points in the final 6:44 of the game's opening 20 minutes. Walker is the first UAB player to receive the weekly league honor three times in one season in C-USA history.
