DALLAS – After two-straight wins over the final week of regular season action, Western Kentucky junior Jamarion Sharp was named the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time of his career, the league announced on Monday. Additionally, Charlotte’s Aly Khalifa was selected as the C-USA Freshman of the Week for the sixth time on the year. The 2021-22 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf and are voted on by the league’s men’s basketball communications directors.

Sharp averaged 12 points, 11.5 rebounds and six blocks in WKU's two wins over Marshall. Over the two games, he shot 11-of-13 (84.6%) from the field, including a perfect 6-for-6 mark at Marshall. In the Hilltoppers' regular season finale, the big man flirted with a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks in 32 minutes. It was his fourth double-double of the season and second- consecutive. The seven-block game helped him reclaim the national lead in total blocks (142). Earlier in the week at Marshall, he had 12 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in 30 minutes.

Khalifa averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help lead Charlotte to victories over East Division regular season champion Middle Tennessee at home and Southern Miss on the road to end the Niners regular season campaign. This is Khalifa’s sixth freshman honor this season, the most by a C-USA player during the year.
