DALLAS –Charlotte swept this week’s Conference USA softball awards, as INF Ella Chancey, was named C-USA Softball Player of the Week, while Amelia Wiercioch earned Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday. All Conference USA weekly awards are presented by Surf & Turf Golf. 
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
ELLA CHANCEY, CHARLOTTE 
FRESHMAN, INF, ATHENS, GA. 
Chancey hit her third home run of the year against No. 6 Virginia Tech to help bring home the 5-2 victory on Wednesday. The Georgia native had two runs and four RBI to spark the 49ers’ offense against Villanova. Chancey had two hits in the game against Maryland and broke a scoreless tie with a two-run double in the third inning. She has scored 14 runs on the season with 17 RBI, is third on the team in home runs with five, and has a .400 batting avg. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
AMELIA WIERCIOCH, CHARLOTTE 
GRADUATE STUDENT, RHP, TUSTIN, CALIF.  
Wiercioch held No. 6 Virginia Tech’s offense to two runs (unearned) on her way to picking up her fifth win of the season, where she scattered seven hits through four-plus innings in the win over the Hokies. The California native, held Maryland scoreless through the first five innings and allowed just two runs in the complete-game victory, improving her to 6-0. Additionally, Wiercioch allowed just two hits in two scoreless innings of relief against Boston College and picked up her first save of the season in the win.
