VB: September 19 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Conference USA announced Monday its fourth 2022 Volleyball Player of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear. WKU’s Paige Briggs earned Offensive Player of the Week, after averaging 4.5 kills per set across 14 sets and teammate, Lauren Matthews was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, after averaging 1.86 blocks per set at the WKU Invitational, Rice’s Carly Graham was named Setter of the Week, after averaging 10.8 assists per set at the Adidas Invitational II, and Adri Rhoda from Middle Tennessee earned her third consecutive Freshman of the Week award, after averaging 3.92 kills per set at the Red Storm Invitational.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Paige Briggs, WKU, Sr., Ortonville, Mich.
Briggs had a stellar weekend after posting 63 kills with a .364 hitting percentage and averaged 4.5 kills per set at the WKU Invitational. The senior from Ortonville, Michigan, collected 23 kills on a .697 hitting clip against Tennessee Tech on Friday, while pulling in 31 more kills against Texas A&M and Indiana, totaling 61 points through the weekend. Briggs is second in the conference in kills per set with 3.94.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Lauren Matthews, WKU, 5Sr., Indianapolis, Ind.
Matthews was a dominating force as she picked up 26 blocks over the weekend, averaging 1.86 blocks per set. On Friday, she had four solo stuff blocks up against Tennessee Tech. The Indianapolis, Indiana, native went in for seven block assists at Tennessee, nine block assists against Indiana and totaled 14.5 points against the Hoosiers. Matthews is currently squared up second for the Hilltoppers, averaging 1.19 blocks a set.
 
C-USA Setter of the Week – Carly Graham, Rice, 5Sr., Spring, Texas
The two-time C-USA Setter of the Year played a pivotal role in Rice defeating No. 17 Creighton and Kansas State last weekend, averaging 10.8 assists per set with 108 assists across 10 frames. Graham began the weekend with 51 assists against the Wildcats while also contributing six kills, eight digs and a block. On Sunday, the fifth-year senior from Spring, Texas, refused to let the Owls lose against the Bluejays with 57 assists, 14 digs, four kills and four blocks.
 
C-USA Freshman of the Week – Adri Rhoda, Middle Tennessee, Fr., Hutchinson, Minn.
Rhoda earned her third consecutive Freshman of the Week award after playing a big part in the Blue Raiders first win over a Power 5 opponent since 2014 in a 3-1 win over a 10-0 Boston College team, having a career-high 19 kills to go along with four aces. In a 3-1 win over Columbia, she had nine aces which is tied for the most in 25-pt program history and is tied for the fifth most in C-USA history. The Hutchinson, Minnesota, native totaled 47 kills, 63 points and 5.25 points per set this week. Rhoda leads the conference in service aces with 14 and aces per set with 1.17.
