XC: September 20 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – UTEP’s Victor Kibiego, who earned his second top-10 finish of the season at the Texas Tech Open, and Rice’s All-American Grace Forbes, who won her second straight individual title of the season at the Texas A&M Invitational, earned the third 2022 Conference USA Cross Country Athletes of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Male Athlete of the Week – Victor Kibiego, UTEP, Freshman, Eldoret, Kenya
Kibiego earned his second top-10 finish of the season after posting a 25:04.21 in the 8k race, placing sixth out of 116 runners at the Texas Tech Open. The freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, finished ahead of runners from Oklahoma, Texas Tech and New Mexico State. The Miners placed fifth overall.
 
C-USA Female Athlete of the Week – Grace Forbes, Rice, Junior, Wallingford, Pa.
Forbes repeats as Female Athlete of the Week with her second-straight individual victory of the cross country season, winning the Texas A&M Invitational individual title with a time of 17:11.6 in the 5k race. The junior from Wallingford, Pennsylvania, notched her eighth individual title of her career running at a 5:31 pace and finished nearly a full 10 seconds faster than second place finisher Gracie Morris of TCU. Forbes posted a 2k split of 6:36.
