DALLAS – Rice’s Serena Pham and Bella Killgore, along with Florida Atlantic’s Hailey Landrus, earned the fifth 2022 Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear.
 
Pham had a hand in three of Rice’s five goals to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors, and Killgore stood strong in net to pick up her fourth career Goalkeeper of the Week nod. In search of its first 3-0 start to league play since 2017, Rice (4-6, 2-0 C-USA) travels to LA Tech for a 1 p.m. CT match on Sunday.
 
Landrus garners Defensive Player of the Week recognition after logging all 180 minutes on the FAU back line that surrendered just one goal on the weekend. Winners of three straight, the Owls (5-3-2, 1-0 C-USA) host UTSA at 7 p.m. Thursday before heading to UAB to face the Blazers at 1 p.m. Sunday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Serena Pham, Rice – Senior – Chantilly, Va.
Pham assisted on both goals in a 2-1 victory over UTSA on Wednesday, handing the Roadrunners their first home loss of the season. She followed that up by scoring the opening goal – the first game-winning goal of her career – in a 3-0 shutout of FIU.
 
Defensive Player of the Week – Hailey Landrus, Florida Atlantic – Senior – Andover, Minn.
One of just two Owls to play all 180 minutes last week, Landrus played a pivotal role in limiting opponents to a .250 shot accuracy percentage and just one goal on 28 shots. Sunday’s 1-0 shutout of North Texas snapped the Mean Green’s NCAA record 65 match home conference win streak. She also added an assist on Bri Austin’s game-winning goal with 11 seconds remaining in FAU’s 2-1 win over Kansas.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week – Bella Killgore, Rice – Senior – Houston, Texas
Killgore tallied five saves and recorded a .833 save percentage on 19 shots faced in a pair of wins to open conference play. In the squad’s 3-0 win over FIU, she made four stops and scored her team-high third goal on a penalty kick. With the shutout, Killgore became just the seventh goalkeeper in C-USA history to compile 300 saves and 20 shutouts in her career.
