DALLAS – UTEP’S Torrance Lovesee who posted 30 kills over eight sets, Rice’s Nia McCardell who averaged 5.0 digs per set, WKU’s Callie Bauer who averaged 11.67 assists per set, and Kaya Weaver of UTEP who had 34 points in three matches, earned the fifth 2022 Volleyball Player of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Offensive Player of the Week – Torrance Lovesee, UTEP, R-Fr., Leon, Kan.
Lovesee posted 30 kills over eight sets this week in a pair of victories for the Miners. On Monday, UTEP swept UTRGV, where Lovesee recorded 14 kills while hitting .522, three blocks and racked up 15.5 points. On Friday, the Miners opened conference play at FIU, where she achieved a personal best and team high of 16 kills while hitting .345. She landed three services aces and recorded a match high 19 points in the five-set win. The native of Leon, Kansas, had a hitting percentage of .423 and totaled 34.5 points this week.
 
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week – Nia McCardell, Rice, Jr., Missouri City, Texas
McCardell totaled 30 digs across just six sets as the No. 23 Owls swept both C-USA matches this past weekend to improve to 12-1, 2-0. The junior from Missouri City, Texas, averaged 5.0 digs per set while also contributing three service aces. McCardell collected 16 digs in Rice's sweep of UTSA, followed by 14 digs against LA Tech.
 
C-USA Setter of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU, R-Fr., Hudson, Mich.
Totaling 70 assists over the weekend, Bauer averaged 11.67 assists per set. On Friday, in a sweep of UAB she had 36 assists, followed by 34 assists against Middle Tennessee on Saturday. The native of Hudson, Michigan, leads the conference in total assists with 582 and assists per set with 10.67. Bauer posts national remarks in both categories, finishing eighth in total and 14th in assists per set prior to the first week of C-USA play.
 
C-USA Freshman of the Week – Kaya Weaver, UTEP, Fr., Galt, Calif.
Weaver’s dynamic play was influential in the Miners’ success with three consecutive wins this week. On Monday, UTEP swept UTRGV in three sets where Weaver posted nine kills while hitting .412 with seven total blocks to rack up 12.5 points. On Friday, in a five-set victory over FIU, she recorded nine kills while hitting .467. On Sunday, Weaver achieved an impressive .818 hitting percentage on 10 kills against Florida Atlantic and recorded four total blocks to round up 12 points for the Miners. The native of Galt, California, hit an overall team high of .535 with 12 total blocks, and was third on the team in kills with 28.
