XC: September 27 Athletes of the Week

DALLAS – Rice’s Elliot Metcalf, who earned the individual title for the four-mile race at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede, and Louisiana Tech’s Rebecca Quebedeaux, who ran a time of 25:18 in the 6k race at the Watson Classic, earned the fourth 2022 Conference USA Cross Country Athletes of the Week honors, presented by Blenders Eyewear.

C-USA Male Athlete of the Week – Elliot Metcalf, Rice, So., Scotland Island, New South Wales
Metcalf took home the McNeese Cowboy Stampede individual title with a finish of 19:30.86 to help the Owls also win the team title. In the four-mile race, Metcalf won by nearly 10 full seconds just a couple of weeks removed from placing third at the season-opening Rice Invitational. The first-place finish was the first of Metcalf's career.

C-USA Female Athlete of the Week – Rebecca Quebedeaux, Louisiana Tech, So., Baton Rouge, La.
Quebedeaux ran a time of 25:18 in the 6k race at the Watson Classic in Clinton, Mississippi, earning a top-25 overall individual finish, which propelled the team to a third-place finish at the meet.
