DALLAS – Middle Tennessee’s Savannah Wheeler and Rice’s Dominique Ennis earned Conference USA Women’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2022-23 C-USA Players of the Week are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
 
Player of the Week – Savannah Wheeler, MTSU – Jr. – Catlettsburg, Ky.
Wheeler takes home her third Player of the Week honors after finishing the week with 57 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals in Middle Tennessee’s two wins over WKU and UAB. The junior guard tied the most points by a C-USA player in a single game this season and set her own career-high when she dropped 37 in the 94-81 win over WKU on Thursday. In addition, she shot 69% (11-of-16) from the field, 13-of-15 from the charity stripe and went 2-of-4 from downtown. Wheeler then followed up her career-performance with another 20 point game on Saturday versus UAB. She grabbed nine boards and two steals to lead MTSU to their fourth consecutive 20-win season.
 
Freshman of the Week – Dominique Ennis – Fr. – Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Ontario
Ennis is named Freshman of the Week after hopping into the starting lineup for her first two starts of the season. The freshman guard tied her career-high with 12 points against Florida Atlantic while adding another career-high with five steals in the victory. In Rice’s 67-58 win over FIU on Saturday, Ennis dropped seven points, three steals and two assists. She becomes the first Owl this season to be tabbed as C-USA Freshman of the Week.
