DALLAS – Charlotte’s Brice Williams and FIU’s Jayden Brewer earned Conference USA Men’s Basketball weekly honors. The 2022-23 C-USA Players of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear and are voted on by the league’s sports information directors.
 
Williams grabs his second Player of the Week honor after helping the 49ers (18-11, 9-9 C-USA) extend their winning streak to four games. He averaged 19.5 points and nine rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field, 57 percent from three and 90 percent from the free-throw line.
 
The third different Panther rookie to garner a Freshman of the Week award, Brewer averaged 18.5 points on an eye-popping 80 percent mark from the field to go with four rebounds per game and a trio of blocks.
 
Player of the Week – Brice Williams, Charlotte – Guard – Huntersville, N.C.
In Thursday’s victory over second-place North Texas, he scored 14 points and tallied five rebounds, while being one of the Charlotte’s most efficient players on the defensive end as the 49ers held the Mean Green to just 49 points. In Saturday's win over Rice, Williams scored 25 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to record his first career double-double. His 25 points came on 9-of-15 shooting from the field. Williams tallied 19 in the second half, including a trio of three-pointers in the closing minutes to seal a 16-point home dub over the Owls.
 
Freshman of the Week – Jayden Brewer, FIU – Guard – Indianapolis, Ind.
Brewer led FIU with a career-high 22 points on 10-13 shooting against UTEP on Thursday. He added four rebounds and two blocks in 25 minutes off the bench. He then followed with his second-straight double-figure performance with 15 points on 6-7 shooting and four rebounds in 21 mins off the bench against UTSA on Saturday. Brewer was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line on the week.
