WBB: Four Teams Earn WNIT Bids

DALLAS – Four Conference USA Women’s Basketball Teams earned bids to the Women’s Basketball National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) following their regular season campaigns. WKU, Rice, UTEP and Louisiana Tech will be extending their seasons with games starting Thursday.  
 
WKU was the C-USA runner up after finishing the season with a 19-13 record and a 14-6 league mark. The Lady Toppers are led by Jaylin Foster and Acacia Hayes who were both awarded All-Tournament Team honors. Hayes and Foster look to lead the offensive charge as they open tournament play Friday, March 17, at Kansas at 5 p.m. CT.  
 
Rice, a team that has won 20 or more games twice in the last three years, finished with a record of 22-8 and 13-7 in league play. Rice ended the regular season third in C-USA and began the season 9-0 for the first time in program history. The Owls will head to BYU to face the 16-16 Cougars on March 17 at 8 p.m. CT.
 
UTEP, led by C-USA Co-Coach of the Year Kevin Baker, finished the regular season with a 20-11 record and were 12-8 in conference play. The Miners boast the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year in Elina Arike along with first-team All-Conference selection Jazion Jackson. UTEP’s first round match up will be on the road at Texas Tech (18-14) on Thursday, March 16, at 6 p.m. CT.
 
LA Tech will be led by All-Conference selections Keiunna Walker and Anna Larr Roberson after a season that saw them finish with a 19-12 record. The Lady Techsters will head to Fayetteville, Ark., to face the 21-12 Razorbacks on Thursday, March 16, at 7 p.m. CT.
