Jena Johannes earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
Offensive Player of the Week – Noemi Paquin, FIU – Senior – Montreal, QC, Canada
For the third consecutive week, Paquin is awarded CUSA Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and leading the Panthers (7-3, 2-0 CUSA) to an upset victory at Liberty on Friday. The senior forward played all 90 minutes and has two or more goals in three straight contests. Paquin leads the league in shots (38), shots on goal (24) and is tied for first in total goals scored (8).
Defensive Player of the Week – Jena Johannes, NM State – Junior – Kihei, Hawaii
Johannes earns her second CUSA weekly honor of the season after guiding the Aggies (7-4-1, 2-1 CUSA) to a 2-0 week with wins over MTSU and WKU on home turf. The junior from Hawaii was tremendous on the NM State back line, holding their opponents to one goal and just eight shots on goal. Johannes saw action in 171 minutes in two games and recorded one shot in the 2-1 win over WKU.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Valery Restrepo, FIU – Sophomore – Envigado, Colombia
Restrepo was crowned Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season as she posted a shutout against one of the league’s top scoring offenses in Liberty. The Panther goalkeeper made a season-high six saves while seeing a total of 20 shots from the Flames. Her strong performance in net helped hand Liberty their first loss of the 2024 season.
