HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 9 FIU outscored No. 8 Jax State 43-30 in the second half on its way to a 76-67 win in Tuesday’s first round contest of the 2024 CUSA Men’s Basketball Championship.

Arturo Dean tallied a game-high 21 points on 9-16 shooting to go with six rebounds, six assists and four steals. He led a second-half surge for the Panthers with 13 points, five rebounds, three steals and all six assists in the final 20 minutes.
FIU (11-21) will face top-seeded Sam Houston at 5:30 p.m. CT Wednesday on ESPN+. The Panthers split the regular-season series with the Bearkats, accounting for one of their three league defeats.
