BOWL: Bracket Announced for 2024 Inaugural Championship

DALLAS – The 2024 Conference USA Inaugural Bowling Tournament is scheduled to take place from March 21 to March 24 at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, Louisiana. The field is set, with Jacksonville State earning the top seed after topping the NCAA RPI and holding a season record of 93-23. All nine CUSA teams ranked in the top 17 nationally in the NCAA RPI, used for seeding.
 
Three CUSA teams were ranked at the top of the NCAA RPI rankings. Jax State retained its No. 1 spot, Arkansas State (80-24) was placed second and Youngstown State (72-31) enters the tournament as a No. 3 seed.
 
Thursday’s play-in will be a matchup between No. 8 Tulane (62-41) and No. 9 Valparaiso (54-34). The winner will go on to face the top-seeded Gamecocks on Friday.
 
Defending national champion Vanderbilt (87-42) and Louisiana Tech (83-33) are seeded fourth and fifth, respectively. The two teams will meet on Friday morning at 9 a.m. CT, along with No. 6 Sam Houston (74-43) facing off against Youngstown State and seventh-seeded SFA (58-45) competing with Arkansas State.
 
The next round of the winner’s bracket and the beginning of competition in the contender’s bracket will begin Friday at 2 p.m. CT. Matches 10-14 will be played on Saturday.
 
The championship is slated for Sunday, March 24.
 
Championship Format
The championship will be a nine (9) team, double-elimination tournament. Best of three match format. Teams will bowl one standard five-person game for total pinfall, then five baker games for total pinfall. If one team wins both the traditional and baker match, they advance. If both teams split the standard and baker matches, they will move on to a best-of-seven series of baker games. If necessary, the second championship match on Sunday will be Baker Best of Seven match play only.
