HARAHAN, La. – The Jacksonville State Gamecocks were crowned champions of the inaugural 2024 Conference USA Bowling Tournament at Colonial Lanes on Sunday. Despite Youngstown State’s impeccable run in the contender’s bracket, the Penguins came up short in the final match.

Youngstown State battled their way through the contender’s bracket, facing elimination almost all weekend after losing to No. 2 Arkansas State in match nine on Friday. The No. 3 seed faced the Wolves once again this morning and showed no signs of losing their momentum. The Penguins had the edge on the traditional game, 1034-962, and finished the job in Baker (1089-975) to secure their spot in the championship match against Jax State.

Jax State entered the championship match strong, besting YSU in traditional, 1081-981. The Gamecocks capped off their incredible tournament run as they won Baker total pinfall, racking up 1186 to YSU’s 1112. In Jax State's first year as a bowling program, they have finished the regular season at the top spot in NTCA and NCAA RPI rankings while also now having won the program’s first bowling conference title. Jax State’s tournament win earns them an automatic NCAA berth.
