BOWL: Jax State Headed to National Title Match

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The 2024 NCAA Bowling Championship began on Friday. Each of the Final Four teams were from Conference USA. Jacksonville State ensured its spot in the championship final after winning two matches on day one. Arkansas State and Youngstown State will battle it out Saturday morning to decide who will advance to play the Gamecocks.
 
The day began with Jax State defeating Sam Houston (2-0) and A-State bowling past YSU (2-0) in the opening matches of the Final Four.

The Gamecocks and Red Wolves met in the afternoon to fight for a spot in the championship final. Jax State gained momentum in traditional play, getting five scorers over 200 to take a 1098-974 win and a 1-0 lead in the match. The two were neck and neck during Baker, each program bowling impressive games. The Gamecocks came out on top, 1112-1067, and now advance to Saturday’s National Championship Match.
 
Sam Houston and YSU met in Round 2, splitting traditional and baker, 1-1. The match headed to Baker best-of-seven with each team facing possible elimination. The Penguins survived with a score of 4-2 in best-of-seven, earning the final point over the Bearkats, 2-1. The win marked YSU’s first-ever NCAA Final-Four victory.
 
Jax State now awaits its championship opponent as Youngstown State will face A-State tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. CT.
