DALLAS – Conference USA tabbed 12 student-athletes to its 2024 CUSA Softball All-Academic Team Friday afternoon. All nine schools are represented, led by LA Tech, UTEP and WKU each with two selections.
Two individuals garnered their third all-academic recognition in UTEP’s
Lexi Morales and WKU’s
Katie Gardner. Morales owns a 3.86 GPA in forensic science and has played a vital role in UTEP’s 21
st-ranked doubles per game tally (1.63) as she ranks third in CUSA with 0.32 two-baggers per game. Gardner boasts a 3.78 GPA as a speech language pathology major and leads CUSA in wins (15), shutouts (8) and complete games (13), while ranking second in strikeouts (117).
Six of the 12 honorees have a GPA of 3.90 or better, including four with perfect 4.0 marks in Jax State’s
Ashley Phillips, LA Tech’s
Nicole Hammoude, Sam Houston’s
Ellie Grill and WKU’s
Brylee Hage. The team also includes Liberty slugger
Rachel Roupe, who ranks in the top-35 nationally in doubles (17) home runs (15), slugging (.814) and total bases (118) while sporting a 3.84 GPA in public health.
The 2024 CUSA Softball Championship will be held May 8-11 in Las Cruces, N.M.
