WSOC: August 27 Players of the Week

DALLAS – New Mexico State’s Brooke Schultz and FIU’s Reagan Bridges and Valery Restrepo earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week – Brooke Schultz, NM State – Senior – Kenmore, Wash.
Schultz showcased a stellar week on the pitch and led the NM State (3-0-1) offensive charge as she scored two goals in two games, both of which were game winners. The senior midfielder put the Aggies ahead of Oregon on a free kick, leading them to their first win over a power-four team in program history. Her second goal of the week came in the final two minutes of Saturday’s win over Texas A&M-Commerce. Schultz also recorded the lone Aggie assist in the second contest.

Defensive Player of the Week – Reagan Bridges, FIU – Senior – Littleton, Colo.
Bridges played a key role on the back line for an FIU (3-1) team that blanked Florida Atlantic and Jacksonville last week. The senior defender saw action in 168 minutes in the two contests for the Panthers while holding their opponents to just five shots on goal. Bridges was strong in the first match with FAU on Thursday, allowing the Owls to just one shot on goal on nine shots.

Goalkeeper of the Week – Valery Restrepo, FIU – Sophomore – Envigado, Colombia
Restrepo was brilliant in the net for the Panthers (3-1) as she recorded two shutout wins on the week over two in-state foes, Florida Atlantic and Jacksonville. The sophomore Colombian was credited with one save on nine shots against Florida Atlantic and went on to collect three saves on four shots on Sunday versus Jacksonville. Through the first four matches, Restrepo has only allowed one even-strength goal.
