DALLAS – New Mexico State’s Starr Willaims, UTEP’s Kaya Weaver, Jacksonville State’s Ellie Garrett and Louisiana Tech’s Rori Gray earned the first 2024 Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Starr Williams, NM State – R-Jr. – Ontario, Calif.
Willaims was remarkable all weekend, posting a .560 hitting percentage against two 2023 NCAA Tournament teams. The redshirt junior outside hitter started the weekend with a dominant 14-kill, no-error performance in a win over Coastal Carolina. On Sunday, Willaims recorded 16 kills, including a 10-kill third set in a 25-21 set win at No. 14 Georgia Tech. She also posted five blocks across the entire weekend.
 
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Kaya Weaver, UTEP - Jr. – Galt, Calif.
Weaver delivered an impressive performance, earning all-tournament team honors at the Utah Classic. The native of Galt, California, led UTEP to a 2-1 record sweeping both Green Bay and Utah State. Against Utah, she recorded 11 kills with a .529 hitting percentage. Against Green Bay, she added 5 kills and 6 blocks. Her standout performance came against Utah State, where she notched 5 kills, hit .364, served 3 aces, and set new program records with 10 block assists and 12 total blocks in a 3-set match. Overall, Weaver tallied 21 kills, hit .366, a team-high 21 blocks, and accumulated a team-high 36.0 points.
 
CUSA Setter of the Week – Ellie Garrett, Jax State – Sr. – Windsor, Colo.
Garrett was an all-tournament member after being influential in Jax State’s 3-0 opening weekend. Garrett racked up 130 total assists (13 assists per set) across all matches. The senior setter had a double-double on Saturday in a 3-1 win against West Georgia with 48 assists and 11 digs.
 
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Rori Gray, LA Tech – Washington, D.C.
Gray helped the Bulldogs to the program’s best start since 2021 with two wins at the Fullerton Invitational. The freshman middle blocker finished the weekend with 22 kills on a .409 hitting clip and added six blocks. She recorded 11 kills with a .455 hitting percentage and two blocks in a 3-1 win over California State Fullerton on Friday.
