Loma McNeese, Louisiana Tech’s
Dakota Merino and Liberty’s
Peyton Huber earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
Offensive Player of the Week – Loma McNeese, NM State – Graduate – Sherwood, Ore.
McNeese had an outstanding week as she recorded her second career brace against Pacific scoring back-to-back goals in the Aggies’ (4-1-1) 3-1 victory over Pacific. In that contest, McNeese recorded her seventh game-winning goal of her career. The graduate forward tallied six shots with four on goal that game. The reigning CUSA Player of the Year is currently fifth in CUSA in shots on goal (8) and sixth in shots (16).
Defensive Player of the Week – Dakota Merino, LA Tech – Sophomore – Syracuse, Utah
Merino was superb on the back line, helping guide LA Tech (2-1-3) to their first two wins of the 2024 campaign. The sophomore defender managed to tally two goals including the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Arkansas State. Merino played in all 90 minutes in both matches as the Bulldogs allowed just one goal on nine shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week – Peyton Huber, Liberty – R-Freshman – Knoxville, Tenn.
Huber made her first career start for the Flames (6-0) over the weekend where she did not allow a goal in a pair of victories against future CUSA foe Delaware and Longwood. The redshirt freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., played a total of 90 minutes between both contests. Huber has been solid in net for Liberty to start the season as they are one of three Division I programs that boasts a 6-0 record.
