FB: Weekday CUSA Wraps Up in Week Ten

DALLAS – The third season of Weekday CUSA concludes with four games from Tuesday-Friday, followed by a pair of Saturday tilts as the league returns to traditional Saturday play for the remainder of the regular season. This year’s campaign has already been chock full of entertainment with seven one-possession games, including six decided by three points or less and a pair of overtime thrillers in week nine.

UTEP (2-5, 1-2 CUSA) AT KENNESAW STATE (5-2, 3-0 CUSA)
Date: Tuesday, Oct. 28
Time: 7 p.m. CT
Location: Kennesaw, Ga. (Fifth Third Stadium)
Broadcast: ESPNU
Announcers: Chuckie Kempf (PxP), Darius Walker (Analyst)
All-Time Series: UTEP leads 1-0

With a chance to secure a bowl berth in their first year of eligibility, the Owls look to extend their five-game winning streaks both overall and at home – both of which mark the longest for the team since the 2021 season. KSU’s high-flying offense, which also ranks 23rd in sacks allowed, faces a tough opponent in the Miners, who rank 24th in sacks per game (2.71) and 43rd in passing yards allowed. UTEP looks to stack some wins after Skyler Locklear’s four total touchdowns powered his squad to a win over Sam Houston their last time out.

JAX STATE (4-3, 3-0 CUSA) AT MTSU (1-6, 0-3 CUSA)
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 29
Time: 6:30 p.m. CT
Location: Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium)
Broadcast: ESPN2
Announcers: Clay Matvick (PxP), Chase Daniel (Analyst)
All-Time Series: MTSU leads 14-3-2

The Gamecocks enter Wednesday’s contest having rushed for 200 yards and multiple touchdowns in six straight games -the second-longest streak by any FBS team this season (Air Force – 7). Jax State’s gashing ground game, powered by FBS rushing leader Cam Cook (135.6), meets a Blue Raider defense that boasts CUSA’s second-best rushing defense and ranks 44th in FBS in tackles for loss (6.0). While the Jax State offensive line has paved the way for a potent run game, they rank 110th nationally in TFL allowed (6.14).

FIU (3-4, 1-2 CUSA) AT MISSOURI STATE (4-3, 2-1 CUSA)
Date: Wednesday, Oct. 29
Time: 7 p.m. CT
Location: Springfield, Mo. (Robert W. Plaster Stadium)
Broadcast: CBS Sports Network
Announcers: Jordan Kent (PxP), Adam Breneman (Analyst)
All-Time Series: First meeting

Wednesday’s matchup of the Panthers and Bears pits CUSA’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams in time of possession, respectively, setting up a key battle for ball control between two effective offenses. FIU, which has averaged 235 yards rushing in its last two games, presents an unfamiliar challenge for Missouri State, who hasn’t faced a team that’s run the ball 30+ times in five weeks. The Bears look to build on the return of QB1 Jacob Clark, who earned CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honors after a three-touchdown performance against NM State.

SAM HOUSTON (0-7, 0-4 CUSA) AT LOUISIANA TECH (4-3, 2-2 CUSA)
Date: Friday, Oct. 31
Time: 7 p.m. CT
Location: Ruston, La. (Joe Aillet Stadium)
Broadcast: CBS Sports Network
Announcers: Jack Gordon (PxP), Ben DiNucci (Analyst)
All-Time Series: Series tied 2-2-1

The Bearkats and Bulldogs look to break the series tie in their final meeting as CUSA foes in a Halloween-night showdown to wrap up the 2025 season of Weekday CUSA. Both teams are greatly in search of a win – Sam Houston their first, and LA Tech their first in over a month. Sam Houston quarterback Hunter Watson has gained momentum in recent weeks, completing 65 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and one interception in his last three games, but goes against a Bulldog defense that has generated lots of mayhem against opposing offenses.

DELAWARE (4-3, 2-2 CUSA) AT LIBERTY (3-4, 2-1 CUSA)
Date: Saturday, Nov. 1
Time: 2:30 p.m. CT
Location: Lynchburg, Va. (Williams Stadium)
Broadcast: CBS Sports Network
Announcers: Dave Ryan (PxP), Patrick Peterson (Analyst), Adam Breneman (Analyst)
All-Time Series: First meeting

A Saturday afternoon showdown features the first meeting between the Flames and Fightin’ Blue Hens. For Delaware, Nick Minicucci has stood out as one of, if not the best, passers in CUSA after he threw for 276 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions against MTSU. He faces one of his toughest tests against a Liberty defense that ranks 17th in passing defense and hasn’t allowed a 300-yard passer since the 2023 Fiesta Bowl. The Flames look to keep their fiery play going after winning back-to-back contests against UTEP and NM State before the bye.

NEW MEXICO STATE (3-4, 1-3 CUSA) AT WKU (6-2, 4-1 CUSA)
Date: Saturday, Nov. 1
Time: 2:30 p.m. CT
Location: Bowling Green, Ky. (Houchens Industries – L.T. Smith Stadium)
Broadcast: ESPN+
Announcers: Joe Fisher (PxP), Terry Obee (Analyst)
All-Time Series: Series tied 1-1

The Hilltoppers are expected to be led out once again by redshirt freshman quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. following his heroic performance in an overtime victory at LA Tech. Tisdale and the Tops will need to continue to play a clean game against an Aggie defense that ranks sixth nationally in turnovers gained (16) and fumbles recovered (7). NM State itself is also seeking an efficient outing after its gunslinger Logan Fife posted an uncharacteristic four-interception game in the loss to Missouri State his last time out.
