OTF: 2025 Performers of the Meet

DALLAS – Following the 2025 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on May 16 to May 18, student-athletes from Liberty, Middle Tennessee, FIU and UTEP were named Performers of the Meet. The awards were selected by the league’s head coaches.
 
Liberty’s Christian Hicks was named Men’s Field Performer of the Meet, while FIU’s Michaelle Valentin claimed Women’s Field Performer of the Meet. Middle Tennessee’s Carmelo Cannizzaro earned Men’s Track Performer of the Meet and UTEP’s Rejoice Sule captured Women’s Track Performer of the Meet.
 
Male Track Performer of the Meet – Carmelo Cannizzaro, MTSU – SR. – Modica, Italy
Cannizzaro showed a strong performance at his last conference meet of his collegiate career. The senior took first place in the men’s 1500m run with a time of 3:51.14. The Modica, Italy native also finished second in the men’s 3000m steeplechase. Overall, Cannizzaro accumulated 18 points for the Blue Raiders, helping them to a third-place finish.
 
Female Track Performer of the Meet – Rejoice Sule, UTEP – SO. – Nigeria
Sule claimed the Women’s High Point Scorer of the Meet, scoring 23.75 points, after earning three first place finishes. The sophomore took the women’s 100m dash title, clocking in at 11.26 and the women’s 200m dash title, recording a time of 22.97. Sule also ran the last leg of the women’s 4x100 relay (44.07) to capture gold. The Nigeria native ranks tied for 16th in the 100 (11.22) and 19th in the 200 in the NCAA West Region.
 
Male Field Performer of the Meet – Christian Hicks, Liberty – R-JR. – Romney, W. Va.
Hicks earned the Men’s High Point Scorer of the Meet, scoring 20 points, after capturing two first place wins. Hicks was the only men’s athlete at the meet to win two individual events. The redshirt junior heaved a shot put personal best of 56-4 (17.17m) in round six to come from behind and win. He also recorded the two longest throws in discus, including the winning mark of 185.2 (56.44m).
 
Female Field Performer of the Meet – Michaelle Valentin, FIU – SR. – Apopka, Fla.
Earning 23 points, Valentin was the top field scorer of the meet for men and women. The senior Panther placed first in women’s hammer throw with a mark of 66.37m and second in women’s discus with a throw of 55.04m. Valentin sits at No. 4 in women’s discus and No. 14 in women’s hammer in the NCAA.
